The Eve of Christmas Eve

This day should be a holiday as well.  It should celebrate (acknowledge) all the family crap that happens during the holidays.  As long as I've been married, every Christmas brought more stress than good tidings.  I'm clearly cursed.  I mean, of all holidays to have heightened stress and discord in the home, it's Christmas???

In my household, the spirit of Christmas is easier to capture from shopping than with roasted chestnuts on an open fire.  Sad, but true.  I'm well aware of what Christmas should be all about, but it's more elusive to properly enjoy Christmas in my family than it is to find a new iPhone on sale.

Thus, I dread the holidays.

No wisdom tonight.  Just a hearty wish - Merry Eve of Christmas Eve!

Peace in the land

Peace is restored, but how long this will last is anyone's guess.  If it were mine, I'd say 11 days.

Each day of life is a struggle.  There is no true rest until we pass.  I know that sounds grim, but honestly, when is one never struggling?  When is one ever truly content?  We have moments of contentment, escape, and zen-like states of relaxation, but life's struggles remain.  Some say persevering through struggles builds character.  However, we all know we'll never be done.  We must all accept being incomplete souls.  Imperfect, unfulfilled, conflicted souls.  Everyday we do what we can to survive.

What's the point of arguing?

Just had the 4th major fight in the past two weeks with my wife tonight.  Like with most of them, it was triggered by the smallest of issues.  It may be nearing the end for us.  Our poor son...

There is no real point to fighting, because it depends on who you ask.  We both have the "right of way" and the other person is just delusional anyway, so what's the point?  Certainly not to win, right?  Because in order to win, the other must concede.  I suppose there might be a point to arguing, but it certainly can't be decent or worthwhile...can it?

In any event, the damage has been done.  That's really the point.  If you're looking to cause harm to another, just fight.

...and so it begins.

By no means am I as wise and disciplined as Confucius.  I'm actually quite the opposite.  I'm referencing his name to convey the spirit of sharing wisdom.  I believe that wisdom exists in stupidity and anger.  Wisdom can be discovered through mistakes and regret.  Thus, I would like to share my thoughts, testimonies, and words with anyone interested or just plain curious.

With so many blogs in this universe, I would be happy to reach just one person.

I leave you with this quote from the real Confucius:
"Everything has its beauty, but not everyone sees it."
